The Jujutsu Kaisen () manga series was created by Gege Akutami and was initially released in Japan. It has been released in Weekly Shnen Jump by Shueisha, a young adult manga magazine, chapter by chapter since March 2018. Its chapters will have been gathered and released in a total of 21 tankbon volumes by December 2022. The main character of this book is a high school student named Yuji Itadori. In order to free the world from the powerful curse known as Ryomen Sukuna, of which Yuji becomes the host, he is enlisted by a mysterious gang of Jujutsu Sorcerers. Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School by Akutami was first released in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA from April to July 2017 before being collected in a tankbon volume that was eventually released in December 2018 under the retroactive title Jujutsu Kaisen 0. A continuation of the series is Jujutsu Kaisen. It was made by Akutami.
Since December 2019, Jujutsu Kaisen has been available in print thanks to Viz Media, which holds the rights to publish the manga in North America’s English language. Shueisha makes the series available in English for reading on the Manga Plus website. One of Ballad Kitaguni’s books was published in both May 2019 and January 2020. Kitaguni is the author of both books. The 24-episode anime television adaptation, which was produced by MAPPA and aired on MBS from October 2020 to March 2021, has 24 episodes. Crunchyroll has granted permission for the anime to be streamed outside of Asia, and the first episode of the English dub will debut in November 2020. In April 2021, the anime’s original soundtrack became a retail item. The second season of the program is expected to premiere in July 2023.
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga had more than 70 million copies in print as of August 2022, making it one of the manga series with the most overall copies sold. Even though this figure excludes companion books, digital editions, and Jujutsu Kaisen 0, it still ranks among the most popular manga series ever.
Synopsis
Jujutsu Kaisen’s teachings claim that all living things emit a type of energy known as Cursed Energy (, Juryoku). It is believed that the negative emotions that freely flow through the body are where this energy comes from. Most people find it challenging, if not impossible, to control the flow in their bodies. This causes them to continually lose Cursed Energy, which causes the creation of Curses (Japanese: Noroi), a race of spiritual beings whose primary objective is to harm humanity. These disasters are portrayed as terrifying creatures with malicious motives.
Jujutsu Sorcerers, also known as “Cursed Technique Masters” or “Shamans,” are those who have the ability to regulate the flow of Cursed Energy within their bodies. They can pick how they want to use Cursed Energy thanks to this, and they can also control how much of it is released. High-ranking Curses and Sorcerers can harness this energy and use it to perform Cursed Techniques (Jujutsushiki), which are frequently specific to the individual or their family. It is possible to use the energy itself to carry out these procedures. A more complex version of the Cursed Technique is the Domain Expansion (, Ryuki Tenkai) technique. Practitioners can create a pocket dimension with a customizable size with this technique. Once inside the domain, each of their attacks will instantly join with one another and grow stronger.
Plot: Yuji Itadori is a Sendai high school student with extraordinary physical fitness. As he sits on his deathbed, Itadori’s grandfather gives him two bits of advice that would change his life: “always help people” and “die surrounded by others.” The opening of a rotting finger talisman by Itadori’s Occult Club friends made Itadori the target of the potent Ryomen Sukuna Curse. Curses were drawn to their school as a result of their behavior. Itadori’s activities put Megumi Fushiguro and Itadori’s other pals in jeopardy. It is essential that all sorcerers immediately cast an exorcism spell against Sukuna as he is a dangerous being (and, by implication, Itadori). Itadori is brought to the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School by Megumi’s teacher Satoru Gojo with a request to his superiors: put off Itadori’s execution and train with Gojo until he eats all of Sukuna’s fingers to end the Curse. Itadori is brought to the school by Megumi’s teacher Satoru Gojo after he notices that Itadori was able to keep control of his body. A group of cursed spirits are also getting ready to launch a multifaceted attack on the world of jujutsu sorcery. The afflicted spirit Mahito and a depraved sorcerer by the name of Suguru Geto, who was executed by Gojo a year previously, are included in this group. The headmaster of the Kyoto school asked that Itadori be eliminated right away during the jujutsu tournament between the Tokyo and Kyoto schools. Others, such as Gojo’s classmate Nobara Kugisaki, on the other side, are in favor of his efforts to preserve Itadori’s life.
